Guardian Angel Discussion Questions
Book clubs and book discussions can be interesting, entertaining, and thought provoking. The best books chosen are ones you or other members might never consider reading without the push from a club member. These books prompt the most debate about character, plot, setting, and story.
Sometimes, there is food and wine or just wine, which makes the questions, answers, and examination of the story all the more entertaining. And if there’s enough wine, the back and forth can result in a dive into other topics tangentially related to the book.
Luckily, the BFF Book Club near Los Angeles, California (a city that’s one setting for the book!) chose Guardian Angel as the featured book this past month. Yay!! The moderator emailed later to say the novella was well received and prompted a lively discussion. Thank you ladies!!
BFF Book Club near Los Angeles, California post Guardian Angel discussion
Another book club chose Guardian Angel as well, and the moderator asked for discussion questions. After giving her request some thought, I came up with seven questions to prompt discussion.
What did you think of the main character, Joseph Storch? Did you find him believable? Why? Why not?
Which character do you feel had the most impact in shaping Storch’s approach to life and money? His mother? His uncle? Connie? Which character did you choose and why?
What did you think of Connie?
What did you think of Storch’s decision not to tell Connie that he might die?
What of Oriel, the angel? Was he believable? Why or why not?
Have you ever encountered someone you now see as an angel? Someone who appeared in your life when you needed them the most, then disappeared when the crisis resolved? Would you be willing to share?
Do you think you would live your life differently if you knew the exact date and time of your death?
Of course, the discussion will likely evolve organically and none of these questions would apply. But if you’ve read Guardian Angel for your book club, perhaps you’d be willing to share!
